Japan stocks dropped after the close on Wednesday, pulled
down by the losses in the Fishery, Precision Instruments, and Food sectors.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.11 percent at the close.
Among the best performers in the Nikkei 225 was Takara
Holding Inc, which soared 11.37 percent or 130.0 points to trade at 1273.0 at
the close.
Asahi Kasei Corp gained 7.10 percent or 100.0 points to
settle at 1507.5, while Furukawa Co Ltd climbed 4.34 percent or 92.0 points to
2214.0 in late trade. This is the company’s all-time high.
On the other hand, Shimizu Corp was among the worst
performers, with stocks plummeting 8.28 percent or 115.0 points to trade at
1274.0 at the close.
Kubota Corp dropped 6.64 percent or 144.5 points to end at
2031.5, while Yokogawa Electric Corp declined 5.30 percent or 115.0 points to
2053.0.
Soaring stocks beat declining ones on the Tokyo Stock
Exchange by 1714 to 1568 and 223 ended untouched.
Meanwhile, the Nikkei volatility, a measure of the implied
volatility of Nikkei 225 options, slipped 4.19 percent to 16.45.

On the other hand, for John Vail of Nikko Asset Management, the
Nikkei 225 would keep rising even if the yen stays in the range of its current
level.
“Even if the yen does not weaken much, there is a very good
chance of 30,000 for the Nikkei in two years as foreigners are now excited
about the market,” said Vail.
On other industries, crude oil for December delivery dipped
0.54 percent or 0.31 to $56.89 a barrel.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January
dropped 0.41 percent or 0.26 to reach $63.43 per barrel. December Gold Futures
contract climbed 0.22 percent or 2.87 to trade at $1278.67 a troy ounce.
For forex, USD/JPY dropped 0.18 percent to 113.79, while
EUR/JPY slumped 0.09 percent to 131.97. The US dollar index, which measures the
dollar against a basket of six other major currencies, was down 0.06 percent at
94.75.
Trump has recently concluded his three-day visit in the
Asian country, which was the first tour of the Trump administration since
coming to power.
